Don’t Buy Stuff You Can’t Afford

Here is a great skit from Saturday Night Live making fun of people who have no concept of not paying for something if they can’t afford it. I got a good laugh out of it.

  1. I’ve seen this skit before and had a good laugh over it. Unfortunately, it’s also a little sad seeing as the “confusion” does happen. It’s amazing how consumerism takes over and we buy things we don’t have the money for, then take out loans to cover the payments of the things we don’t have money for, and then wonder why we’re in debt up to our eyeballs and filing for bankruptcy. I’m not saying this is everyone in debt, of course, but it does happen.

    Thanks for sharing!

yes, there is a sad element to it, but SNL does a good job of showing how ridiculous we think as consumers sometimes.

  3. Haha, this is great. It’s funny but so true that the majority of Americans have this problem. Enjoy the stuff you own because YOU own it, and save for whatever you want to buy. Also, with the credit card rules changing it’s even more important to not use The Card to buy things.

Amazingly, there are many people who think being spendthrift will help them to save money for their future use. It’s unnecessary to utilize wares which aren’t considered actual necessities.
