I got this flyer in the mail today, and I thought that I would share it with those of you that have Compass Bank in your town. For a limited time, you can open up one of three bank accounts and receive a $50 gift card to either Target, Lowe’s or Best Buy.
Here is the link to the promotion on the web. www.compassbank.com/go/mailoffer
You can open up one of three accounts:
- Build to Order Free Checking
- Compass Preferred Money Market Account
- Equity Optimizer Line of Credit
We used to have a Compass checking account, and it was a pretty good bank. Some of their fees were pretty high, and they are stingy about removing overdraft fees. But, we liked them overall. It’s not cash, but I thought it was a cool little promotion.

I live in Birmingham and have used Compass in the past. They did a good job for the most part and had the best “in-person” customer service. In the end, I just found better savings at HSBC and ETrade.
The only real negative, is there are a lot of “gotcha”s with their atm refund deals.
Yes, you’re right about the atm refund deals. They offer “free atms” anywhere, but it’s a pain getting reimbursed for the fees from non compass atms
i opened an money market account at compass bank but i can’t find a web sight to get my 50m dollar gift card the http://www.compassbank.com/go/mailoffer is not functional.
