Get the BJ’s One+® Mastercard® if you already pay for BJ’s Club+, since it pays 5% back on most BJ’s purchases with no annual fee. On the $60 Club membership, upgrade for it once you spend about $250 a month at BJ’s, where earning 5% rather than the BJ’s One’s 3% covers Club+’s extra $60 a year.
Capital One issues the One+ only to BJ’s Club+ members, and it replaced the My BJ’s Perks Elite Mastercard in 2023. It suits households that buy most of their groceries, household supplies, and gas at BJ’s, since its rewards can be spent only there.
Key Features
- Requires a BJ’s Club+ membership, $120 a year plus any sales tax
- $0 annual fee and a 19.99% or 28.49% variable interest rate, based on your credit
- 5% back in BJ’s rewards on most purchases at BJ’s and 2% on purchases outside BJ’s
- 15¢ off a gallon at BJ’s Gas, where fill-ups earn no rewards
- Rewards added to your BJ’s account each month, usable once you have $10
Pros
- 5% back at BJ’s with no cap, where Club+ alone pays 2% and caps rewards at $500 a year
- Earns more at BJ’s than pairing Club+ with a flat 2% cash-back card, 5% against 4%, though half of that 4% is cash
- Triple the gas discount Club+ gives on its own, 15¢ a gallon instead of 5¢
- Rewards never expire and can go toward your Club+ fee
- No foreign transaction fee on purchases outside the U.S.
Cons
- Rewards can be spent only at BJ’s, never taken as cash or a statement credit
- Club+ costs $60 a year more than the $60 Club membership
- No welcome bonus
- No rewards on BJ’s Gas fill-ups, alcohol, tobacco, gift cards, or sales tax
Use the One+ for all your BJ’s shopping and fill-ups if you pay for Club+, and the BJ’s One if you’re on Club and spend less than about $250 a month at BJ’s. That’s where 5% instead of 3% covers Club+’s extra $60 a year, and you reach it with less BJ’s shopping if you also buy BJ’s gas or use the card elsewhere.
