The Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® Card from Bank of America suits West Coast and Hawaii travelers who fly Alaska or Hawaiian a few times a year. It was the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature until August 2025, when the two airlines launched Atmos Rewards to combine their loyalty programs.
Key Features
- $95 annual fee and no foreign transaction fee
- Free first checked bag and preferred boarding for everyone on your booking, up to seven travelers including you, when the card pays for the airfare
- A yearly companion fare after $6,000 in spending, which lets a second traveler on your booking fly within North America, Hawaii included, from $122
- 50,000 bonus points and a companion fare after $1,500 in purchases within 90 days, the points worth about $775 at The Points Guy’s value of 1.55 cents a point
- 3x points on Alaska and Hawaiian purchases; 2x on gas, EV charging, local transit, cable, and select streaming; 1x on everything else
Pros
- At the $45 first-bag fee, a family of four with one bag each saves $360 per round trip, or $240 between Hawaiian islands, where the fee is $30
- The first companion fare comes with the welcome offer, after $1,500 in spending instead of $6,000
- No blackout dates when you book Alaska or Hawaiian flights with points or the companion fare
Cons
- The yearly companion fare takes $6,000 in purchases, about $500 a month
- No lounge passes, only a $100 discount on a yearly Alaska Lounge+ membership
- Slow path to elite status, since Atmos Silver, the lowest tier, takes 20,000 status points, and at 1 per $3 that’s $60,000 in spending
- No 0% intro period, and a variable annual percentage rate of 19.74% to 27.74% from the start
If you check bags, buy your Alaska and Hawaiian tickets with this card, since the free bag applies only to airfare it pays for. Frequent flyers who’d use lounge access should compare the $395 Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite, which adds eight Alaska Lounge day passes a year and a 25,000-point companion award good in any cabin and on partner airlines.
