First National Bank of Omaha (FNBO) now issues Flagstar’s credit cards, and this is the rewards card in Flagstar’s business lineup, which no longer includes the old Visa Business Cash card. Flagstar’s other two business cards are a no-rewards card with 18 billing cycles at 0% and a secured card that earns 1 point per dollar.

Key Features

  • No annual fee
  • 1.5 points per dollar on every purchase, worth 1.5% back as cash, with no cap
  • 0% intro annual percentage rate (APR) on purchases and balance transfers through the first 12 billing cycles, then a variable 17.99% to 27.99% APR
  • 5% balance transfer fee ($10 minimum) and 3% foreign transaction fee
  • Open to sole proprietors as well as LLCs and corporations, so a side business can apply

Pros

  • One flat rate, so there are no bonus categories to track
  • Cash back as a statement credit, a check, or a deposit into your checking or savings account at any bank
  • 0% on balance transfers as well as purchases
  • Employee cards, with points pooled for the company or kept by each card
  • Collision and theft coverage on rental cars you pay for with the card

Cons

  • No welcome offer
  • Points expire three years after they’re awarded and are lost if you close the account
  • Balances on other FNBO-issued cards, Flagstar’s included, can’t be transferred

It suits Flagstar customers paying down another bank’s card while earning on new purchases, since moving $10,000 at account opening costs a $500 fee and no interest through the first 12 billing cycles. Owners who pay in full earn more with the no-fee American Express Blue Business Cash Card until yearly spending passes $100,000, since it pays 2% on the first $50,000 a year and 1% after, against this card’s 1.5%.
