Frontier Airlines World Mastercard
Our Rating
3.5/5

Frontier Airlines World Mastercard

  • Best for: Frontier flyers who check a bag on at least one round trip a year
  • What Sets It Apart: Two free checked bags for the cardmember on Frontier flights bought with the card; Elite Gold status after the first purchase
  • Cost: $99 annual fee; 0% foreign transaction fee; 19.74% to 29.74% variable interest rate
  • Features: Up to 60,000 bonus miles; 5X miles on Frontier purchases; 3X at restaurants; 1X on everything else; 1 Elite Status Point per $1; $100 flight voucher after $2,500 in yearly purchases; Group 4 boarding
  • Pros: Two free checked bags on every eligible flight; free carry-on and Group 1 boarding with Elite Gold; miles worth about 1.3 cents each
  • Cons: Free bags for the primary cardmember only; companion travel requires Elite Platinum; 1 mile per $1 on most spending; no lounge access

Just the Tip:

Open the Frontier Airlines World Mastercard if you fly Frontier at least once a year and check a bag. Two free checked bags on every Frontier flight you buy directly with the card are the perk that justifies its $99 annual fee. If you rarely fly Frontier, pick a general travel card instead.

Barclays issues this Mastercard for people who fly Frontier from an airport the airline serves well, and its main draw is free checked bags.

Key Features

  • $99 annual fee, no foreign transaction fee, and a variable 19.74% to 29.74% interest rate on balances you carry
  • 50,000 bonus miles once you spend $500 and pay the $99 fee in full, plus 10,000 when an authorized user makes a purchase, all within 90 days of opening
  • 5 miles per $1 on Frontier purchases (plus the miles Frontier itself awards), 3 at restaurants, and 1 on everything else
  • Two free checked bags for the primary cardmember on flights bought with the card directly from Frontier, plus boarding in Group 4 of 7
  • Elite Gold status after your first purchase, kept for 12 months if you spend $3,000 in the first 90 days, and 1 Elite Status Point per $1 toward higher tiers

Pros

  • Bag savings of $138 on one round trip with a checked bag, $39 more than the $99 fee, at the $69 each-way price consumer group PIRG found on a Cleveland-Orlando trip in May 2026
  • Elite Gold’s free carry-on and Group 1 boarding for the cardmember
  • Miles worth about 1.3 cents each by The Points Guy’s valuation, which puts the full 60,000-mile bonus near $780
  • A $100 Frontier flight voucher after each card year with $2,500 in purchases

Cons

  • Free bags only for the primary cardmember, not companions or authorized users, and only on tickets bought directly from Frontier
  • Unlimited companion travel, where a companion pays only taxes and fees, needs Elite Platinum (50,000 Elite Status Points), and for bookings from January 1, 2027, Platinum drops to two companion certificates
  • Only 1 mile per $1 outside Frontier and restaurants, about 1.3 cents per $1 by that valuation
  • No lounge access, and the $100 voucher can’t pay bag or seat fees

Get it if you’ll check a bag on at least one Frontier round trip a year. Fly Frontier less often, and a travel card with no airline tie fits better, since its rewards work on any airline.
