A Best Egg personal loan fits if you’re paying off credit cards and want it done fast. It can send the money straight to as many as 10 of your cards and personal loans, and Best Egg says about half its borrowers are funded the next day. Before you accept, check the origination fee, which can reach 9.99%.
Best Egg, which Barclays bought in 2026, lends $2,000 to $50,000 at a fixed rate over three to five years for most personal expenses other than college costs. It publishes no minimum credit score and instead weighs your credit, income, and existing debt.
Key Features
- Fixed annual percentage rates (APRs) of 6.99% to 35.99%, origination fee included
- An origination fee of 0.99% to 9.99%, taken out of the loan before it’s paid out, and never under 4.99% on terms of four years or more
- Direct Pay, on unsecured loans, to as many as 10 credit cards, store cards, and personal loans
- Funding one to three business days after verification, and the next day for about half of borrowers, by Best Egg’s count
- A secured Homeowner Discount loan for owners with home equity, backed by a lien on built-in fixtures such as cabinets and vanities, with APRs from 5.99% and terms up to seven years
Pros
- Pays off your cards and personal loans for you, then deposits whatever is left
- Money often arrives the next business day
- No prepayment penalty and no late fees for now, though a returned payment costs $15
- A secured option that can lower your rate without making the house itself collateral
Cons
- A fee of at least 4.99% on four- and five-year loans, so a $10,000 loan pays out $9,501 at most
- Individual applications only, with no co-borrower to help you qualify
- No advertised autopay discount
- Unavailable in a handful of states, including Iowa, Vermont, and West Virginia
- The secured loan’s lien can stand in the way of selling or refinancing your home until it’s repaid
Best Egg makes the most sense for card debt you can clear in three years, since only loans of four years or more carry the 4.99% minimum fee. With excellent credit, compare LightStream’s no-fee loans first, and if you need a co-borrower to qualify, look elsewhere.
