Get the Chase Sapphire Preferred if you want DashPass free for as long as possible at a low annual fee. For $95 a year, it keeps DashPass free through 2029 and takes $10 off one grocery or other non-restaurant order each month. If you won’t pay a fee, the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard comes with a free year of DashPass.
DashPass, DoorDash’s delivery membership, waives the delivery fee and lowers the service fee on orders that meet a participating store’s minimum. It costs $9.99 a month when you pay for it, so paying makes sense only when the fees it saves you each month come to more than that. The cards below make it free for six months, a year, or through 2029, depending on the card.
On the Sapphire, Freedom, and Slate cards, you add the card to your DoorDash account, activate DashPass, and pay with that card at checkout, since paying through Apple Pay or Google Pay doesn’t count. All but the Slate Edge give you until Dec. 31, 2029, to activate. The Freedom and Slate cards also take $10 off one grocery or other non-restaurant order each quarter. The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard starts DashPass when you’re approved. When a free period ends, DashPass renews at full price until you cancel, so note the end date. Many of the cards Chase issues with airlines and hotel chains also include a year of DashPass when activated by Dec. 31, 2027, a bonus for travelers who want one of those cards anyway.
