Robinhood Gold Visa Card
Our Rating
4/5

Robinhood Gold Visa® Card

  • Best for: Robinhood Gold members who charge more than $5,000 a year
  • What Sets It Apart: 3 points per $1 on nearly every purchase, worth 1 cent each as Robinhood brokerage cash or gift cards
  • Cost: $0 annual fee with Robinhood Gold ($50 a year); 29.99% variable APR; 3% foreign transaction fee on accounts opened on or after July 1, 2026
  • Features: Free plastic cards for up to 7 authorized users; trip cancellation and interruption coverage up to $2,000; points to brokerage cash in any amount
  • Pros: One rate with no categories; soft credit check before you accept; no added cost for members who’d keep Gold anyway
  • Cons: $50 Gold fee a free 2% card doesn’t charge; waitlist to apply; no points on tax payments or government services; statement credits worth less than a cent per point
Just the Tip:

Get the Robinhood Gold Visa® Card if you’ll keep paying for Robinhood Gold’s $50 annual plan and charge more than $5,000 a year to the card. Past that point, its 3% back beats a free 2% card even after the fee. Skip it if you spend less or travel abroad, where new cardholders pay a 3% foreign transaction fee.

Robinhood’s Gold Card replaced the X1 Card after Robinhood bought X1 in 2023, and it’s built for members of Robinhood Gold, the company’s paid subscription. To get one, you join a waitlist that picks applicants on several factors, not strictly in sign-up order, and then apply in Robinhood’s app.

Key Features

  • 3 points per $1 on eligible purchases, each worth 1 cent as cash in your Robinhood brokerage account or as gift cards
  • No annual fee, but the card requires Gold’s $50 annual plan, with no free trial
  • No extra points on trips booked through Robinhood’s own travel site
  • A 29.99% variable interest rate on balances you carry
  • Free plastic cards for up to 7 authorized users, with spending limits you set

Pros

  • One rate on nearly every purchase, with no categories to track
  • Points move to your brokerage account in any amount
  • A soft credit check shows your offer, and the hard check comes only if you accept
  • Coverage for up to $2,000 in nonrefundable fares when a trip is canceled or interrupted
  • No added cost for members who’d keep Gold anyway for its investing perks at Robinhood

Cons

  • A $50 Gold fee each year that a free 2% card doesn’t charge
  • A 3% fee on purchases in a foreign currency for accounts opened on or after July 1, 2026, so take a card with no foreign transaction fee abroad
  • No points on tax payments, government services, payments to other people, or rent paid through a third-party service
  • Statement credits worth less than a cent per point

By our math, Gold members who charge more than $5,000 a year come out ahead, and at $20,000 they earn $600 in points against a free 2% card’s $400, or $150 more after the $50 fee. Anyone who’d pay for Gold only to get the card and spends less than that keeps more with the Citi Double Cash or the Wells Fargo Active Cash.
